Plaques & Monuments

Plaques

Families may choose to use bronze plaques to mark grave sites. A range of designs are available for use within the cemetery.  There are many ways to personalise a plaque e.g. through the use of photographs and emblems.

Recognising that burial locations remain in place for all time, plaques are placed on granite.  The granite provides a solid foundation and an attractive border for the plaque.

Monuments

In many areas of the cemetery monuments are able to be placed upon the grave.  Usually families hire a Monumental Mason to design and supply the monument.  On your behalf, the mason must ensure that the design is approved by the cemetery and obtain the necessary permits before any work begins.

Registered Monumental Masons may work within any of the cemetery sites administered by the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust.

Monuments and other memorials arranged directly with masons remain the maintenance responsibility of the family.
