Throughout its history Springvale Botanical Cemetery has become the final resting place for some of Australia’s most notable identities. Personalities from all walks of life, including early pioneers and politicians through to famous sporting identities, rest within the cemetery’s grounds.

- Sir Billy Mackie Snedden – Politician
- Sir John McEwen – Former Australian Prime Minister
Under legislative process, on 1 March 2010 The Cheltenham & Regional Cemeteries Trust and The Trustees of the Necropolis Springvale were merged to create the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust. Springvale Botanical Cemetery is now one of the sites administered by that Trust.
