Relatives honour Clarence Reardon

112 years after the death of Clarence Reardon, who was Springvale Botanical Cemetery’s first interment on 20 March 1902, SMCT was honoured that his fourth cousins Patricia Mourant and Bronwen Sanneman attended the opening to unveil the Reardon Family Commemorative plaque.

Loved son of Thomas and Mary Reardon of Prahran Victoria, Clarence passed away on 19 March 1902, aged 7 months. The cemetery’s Trust Chairman and Secretary-Manager were both present at his burial, showing a poignant duty of care that continues to this day.

Clarence’s father Thomas (1878-1953) and mother Mary (1879-1948) were both buried in the plot, although the inscription on the headstone is solely devoted to him.
